Since our first appearance in 1997, MORNINGSTARS has been on the rise.
Our first mainstage production, Huckleberry Finn, got us off to a rousing start in June of 1998 thanks to the hospitality of the Beckham Hotel. A year and a half at the Mineola League of the Arts provide a solid foundation for our afterschool/weekend theatre arts classes.
Popular productions followed fast including The Truth About Cinderella, Once Upon A Playground, The Wishing Tree, School House Rock Live!, Skits-O-Phrenia, Wiley and the Hairy Man, Flashback and A Christmas Carol. Hundreds of theater students from youth companies across the state delighted in MorningStars' five performances at the Texas Nonprofit Theaters Youth Conferences between 2000 and 2008.
Class Act, our first-ever summer camp, debuted at Mineola Primary School in 2000 and has been a mainstay of MorningStars activity ever since, drawing students was far away as Terrell, Dallas, and Georgetown!
Building on that philosophy that “imagination is more important than knowledge,” MorningStars continues to be a dynamic force in the education of East Texas youth. With strong community support, we’re growing by stages!
